What does Module (M) and Diametral Pitch (DP) mean?

These are the terms used to identify a gear’s tooth size.

Module: is the metric system used to determine tooth size. The bigger the module the bigger the tooth.

Diametral Pitch: is the imperial system used to determine tooth size. The bigger the DP the smaller the tooth.
