CNC Gear Cutting

At Ronson Gears, we have an extensive range of CNC gear cutting capability. Whether it is 5mm diameter or 900mm diameter, we have the technology that provides low-cost gear cutting services to quality levels renowned the world over.

Our gear cutting and gear shaping machines are truly state-of-the-art. These six and eight axis CNC machines have the option of auto load capabilities. This takes us to the leading edge of both Australian and world competitive gear cutting practices.

Ideally suited for all batch sizes, from one-offs to the largest possible OEM volumes, work pieces can be loaded manually or with flexible automation systems.

The latest gear hobbing techniques ensure accuracy and consistency over very large batch quantities. They also offer our customers quieter gearing, at lower cost and with shorter lead times.

Hobbing capabilities

  • Hobbing of spur gears and helical gears.
  • Cutting of worm and worm gears.
  • Hobbing of face gears.
  • Special profiles, worms or splines using single index milling.
  • Crowning and taper gears.
  • Hobbing of work pieces with different numbers of teeth, helix angles and pitches in one clamping, utilising multiple cutters.
  • Timing of teeth of two or more gears on a single component.
  • Automatic timing or orientation of gears to a specific position or for rework and skiving.

CNC Internal Gear Shaping

Our Fellows FS630-200 CNC Internal Gear Shaper brings CNC internal gear cutting capability to Australia for the very first time.  This new machine can cut internal gears up to 650mm in diameter and 200mm face width. The machine possesses a hydrostroke, hydromechanical stroking system, a CNC system designed for gear processing, and adaptive controls which continuously optimise key machine functions for peak gear cutting efficiency. This new system will provide dramatic increases in productivity and tool life with significant part quality advances when compared with conventional crank-driven gear shapers. On suitable work projected productivity may increase up to 100%, and tool life by as much as 250%. Part quality levels to DIN 6 (AGMA 11) can also be expected.
