What are your Terms and Conditions of Sale?

What information do you require to be able to quote?

Ronson Gears requires fully dimensioned drawings to quote to. If this is not possible please provide as much of the following information as possible to allow us to quote accurately:

  • Type of gear: Spur gear, helical gear, straight tooth bevel gear, worm, internal gear, gear rack, etc.
  • Material: what are the components made of? Specify material grades, if known
  • Quantity level required
  • Pressure Angle: this is extremely critical
  • Number of teeth
  • Face width: length of gear tooth
  • Overall length
  • Outside diameter
  • Bore size
  • Boss dimensions: if required
  • Keyway dimensions: if required
  • Heat Treatment: has the gear been flame hardened, case hardened, nitrided or through hardened?
  • Other features? E.g. drill and tapped holes

What type of gears can Ronson Gears manufacture?

We can manufacture spur gears, helical gears, straight tooth bevel gears, worms, worm wheels, internal gears, external and internal splines, gear racks, sprockets, ratchets – almost anything that has a tooth on it.

Do you perform gear design?

We can assist with conceptual gear design. Please contact us at sales@ronsongears.com.au.

Do you have a stock range of gears and racks?

Yes we do. Please refer to our Stock Gears and Racks page for further information.

What material do you use for your stock range?

Our stock range utilizes a number of different materials including steel, stainless steel, brass, acetal and nylon. We also use these materials in-house for custom made products.

Can Ronson Gears modify my stock gear if required?

Yes we can. Please just confirm what you require.

How do I get prices for your stock range?

Do you manufacture complete or do you gear cut only?

We can do either. We have numerous CNC lathes and CNC milling capability to assist us in the manufacturing process. We have trusted sub-contractors to assist in heat treatment and any other processes that cannot be performed in-house.

What is your minimum batch size?

We have the capability to produce one-offs or production batches on our auto loading CNC gear cutting machines – any quantity really. We ask that you supply dimensioned drawings to assist in the manufacturing process to ensure you receive a quality product.

What diameters can you gear cut?

We can gear cut from as small as 5mm diameter up to 900mm in diameter on either our CNC machines or our conventional gear cutting machines.

What diameters can you gear grind?

Ronson Gears can precision gear grind up to 700mm in diameter. Our gear grinding is performed on some of the world’s finest CNC precision gear grinding machines.

What type of machinery do you use to manufacture your gears?

We use state-of-the-art CNC gear cutting and CNC gear grinding machines to manufacture our gears. We also make use of conventional gear cutting machines. Our CNC machines are supplied by Koepfer, Hoefler, Gleason Pfauter, Okuma, Wenzel GearTec, amongst others.

How do you gear cut your internal gears?

On our Fellows CNC Gear Shaping machine or, if the volume justifies, we can broach the internal gear.

How do I know I am receiving what I’ve asked for?

Ronson Gears utilizes sophisticated CNC Gear Measuring equipment. We provide lead and profile charts to confirm that we have manufactured your gears to your requested AGMA or DIN quality requirements. Can your current gear manufacturer supply this information?

What does Module (M) and Diametral Pitch (DP) mean?

These are the terms used to identify a gear’s tooth size.

Module: is the metric system used to determine tooth size. The bigger the module the bigger the tooth.

Diametral Pitch: is the imperial system used to determine tooth size. The bigger the DP the smaller the tooth

Do you have any basic rules or formulas that will help identify what my spur gear is?

Where can I get further information on gears and gear design?

A good place to start is with the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA). Their website is www.agma.org. They will guide you in the right direction to source further materials to assist in your designs.

Can I tour your facility with my QA representatives?

You certainly can. We suggest this to a number of potential customers and they are always pleasantly surprised at the presentation of our plant and our capabilities. Our doors are always open.
