A short family sojourn to Phillip Island had an interesting twist for Gavin New when he arrived at The Nobbies and discovered a copper coin penny press machine. Of course, Gavin's camera is never too far away and his photos show the machinery in motion "No need for high precision gears for this purpose, but it is always good to see gears on full display," he said.

We've read a bit in the last couple of posts on Gear Talk about why Ronson Gears is such a good place to work from two of our longest serving team members, both of whom started with Ronson Gears as young apprentices. On Christmas Eve 1993 two great Australian companies offered a Fitter and Turner Apprenticeship position to 17 year old Jason Graham. Qantas and Ronson Gears! Today 18 years on Jason is now Technical Manager at Ronson Gears, and has no doubt he chose the right company. "It was touch and go at the time, but in the end I chose Ronson because I didn't want to move to Sydney. And didn't that turn out to be the right move?! Not because of the mess Qantas is in now, but because of the excellent career opportunities I have had since commencing my apprenticeship at Ronson Gears!"

A Fitting and Turning Apprenticeship is the beginning of an exciting career path at Ronson Gears according to Martyn Boatwood. Family is an important matter at Ronson Gears. Founded by Ronald New in 1954 Gavin New, Ronald's grandson now steers the marketing side of the family owned business. According to Gavin the team at Ronson's gear manufacturing business is an integral part of the extended family; Stock Sales Coordinator Michele Kranzbuhler who has been with the company 15 years considers her desk at Ronson as home away from home. And this was where her very excited son Luke came this morning to show off a most valuable trophy!
